Auditorium

I finally received a request and I decided to take a look at the game. So, this week I will be reviewing…

Upon receiving the request to review this game, I told my boyfriend, Adam, about it. I often do that. He decided that he would buy the game for us and I could play through it to ensure that it was properly reviewed.

When I opened the game, I was greeted by really beautiful (Read: ear-gasmic) piano music and then when it got to the opening screen, the song built up nicely. The “Auditorium” title popped up with the instruction to click anywhere to begin, which I actually don’t care to much for when you open it up over and over again and just need to go through the 20 second opening every time. It’s not a completely painful opening, not like starting a new game of Kingdom Hearts.

So, basically the point of the game is to get all the bars on the page to full height by diverting the ‘wind’ with the tools you have. My biggest problem with this is that when I started I had no idea what to do with the different tools. There are no instructions. You basically have to play the game and figure out what the heck you’re supposed to do. I guess that isn’t a terrible thing because it’s kind of fun to figure out things for yourself, but I’m not sure if it’s due to the laziness of the creators or because of their want to make it a very simple game. In any case, it’s just a nitpick and probably not that much of a bother for most people.

Dem lights. Dat Music.

My favourite part about this game is how relaxing and soothing it is to play it. I didn’t get angry when I couldn’t solve a song, I just closed it and went back to it later. It’s amazing to be sitting there and finally get it and jump out of your stupor of euphoric eargasms yell “I AM THE GREATEST MAESTRO!”

In conclusion, Auditorium isn’t exactly my favourite puzzle game (that would be Portal), but it’s definitely a good one. I do recommend it for people who like to just open up something when their bored and figure out some puzzles. It’s especially good for relaxing due to the music in the game. I love me some orchestra music.

The Romantically Apocalyptic Review: Part 2 should be up within the next week. I'm sorry for the wait for those who have been waiting for it!
